A TURBOPROP THAT LOOKS LIKE A JET

“If you want to know how much it costs, you don’t have money to have one”. The phrase is old and applies to many things, among jets high operating costs. In the early 1990, Pilatus Aircraft, a Swiss company was in search of a way of increasing the quantity of those that could have one The solution flew on May 31, 1991: the Pilatus PC-12, an elegant aircraft for six to nine passengers, comfortable like a jet, but with reliable Pratt & Whitney PT6 turboprop engine of 1200 HP in the nose. From 1994 to now, over 1,500 were sold.

THE AIR SHUTTLE ICON

One month after the Pam Am collapse, another symbol succumbed: The Lockheed L-188 Electra was definitely removed from Rio-Sao Paulo air shuttle, substituted by faster and more modern jets.
