Video Killed the Magazine Radio Star

Two years ago, two friends from Iowa posted a series of videos on YouTube. They featured the resurrection of a derelict 1965 Ford F250 found in woodland on a disused farm. Amongst the plethora of YouTube channels featuring American classics, the F250 videos became a stand-out success, surpassing a million views in less than a year.

The videos appeared on YouTube channel, Junkyard Digs created by Kevin Brown, a 22-year-old student of applied engineering at Iowa State. For Kevin, the rescue of the F250 began when he was just five, and fascinated by a broken lawnmower engine. By the age of 10, the lawnmower engines filled a shed. “I vividly remember the day I figured out how an engine really worked. I was drawing a V8 on a note card in 5th grade when it suddenly clicked; I understood the mechanical operation of an engine beyond the basics that every science book tells you about.”
