Sharpness revivalists bid to reopen station last used 140 years ago

THE Vale of Berkeley Railway has applied for planning permission to build its first station.

The nascent heritage line wants to run services on the branch between Berkeley and Sharpness, which lost its passenger services under the Beeching Axe, and it is seeking to rebuild Newtown Road station – which closed as early as 1879.
