■ TRAFFIC AND TRACTION: Eleven of IR’s 32-strong 201 Class GMs remain stored unserviceable at Inchicore, Nos. 201-205, 210-214 and No 230. Work continues on repairing No. 225, which will enable it to return to traffic after many years out of service.

The 21 operational members of the 201 Class (plus NIR’s pair Nos. 8208/9) are currently assigned as follows: five on Cross-Border ‘Enterprise’ duties with one working each of the three DD/Mk.3 trains with one loco spare at Connolly and one at Belfast York Road.
