Right at the start of the golfing season, and way before any of us knew what an incredibly successful one it was going to become for Irish golfers and Irish courses, I took the short flight from Heathrow over to Shannon to meet or reacquaint myself with a small selection of the latter.
Just over an hour from London, the west coast of Ireland is so easily accessible that it suits trips of just about any duration. The airport is not too far from the centre of Limerick, but for anyone keen to get their golf off to a flying start, Shannon Golf Club is waiting for you right at the end of the runway.
