Parisian-born designer Anissa Kermiche was drawn to London through her love of British wit, something both her and her eponymous brand have in abundance.

“I take a lot of pleasure finding names for my jewellery that sound slightly naughty, like Precious Pubis [a sculptured pendant of a woman from the waist down] and Rubies Boobies [vice versa from the waist up],” she says of her designs that celebrate women.

When we speak, Anissa has returned to France for a couple of days to promote her brand in the country’s capital. “We are expanding here, so I’m visiting some shops that stock my pieces. It took more time to break than London, because London is more edgy. Paris is much more about big and established brands. That is actually one of the reasons I left Paris, they are a bit less open-minded.”
