Gunther Willinger is a freelance photographer and science journalist from Tübingen in Germany. He focuses on nature and the environment, especially wildlife, conservation, forestry and agriculture.
He studied biology and photography in Tübingen and Freiburg in Germany, as well as in San Francisco in the US.
Two years working as a nature travel guide in Mexico’s Baja California, eight years in nature conservation at EuroNatur Foundation and two years living in Pretoria, South Africa reinforced his enthusiasm for nature, travel and photography.

I was about ten years old when I got my first camera, an Agfa Pocket. Even then nature and animals were already my favourite motifs, at that time in the zoo. Since then technology has changed a lot, but photography is still an important medium for me to experience and perceive the world through.
