A SERIOUS THIRST FOR PREMIUM WINE

JAPAN is flavour of the month. Last year more than half a million Australians visited the country and the Rugby World Cup introduced many more to one of Asia’s most appealing destinations. The Tokyo Olympics, beginning in July, will further open Japan to a wider audience. So it’s only fitting that Japanese wines are grabbing a larger share of the spotlight.

The Japanese market is experiencing its “seventh wine boom”, says Austrade. Japan was the sixth largest wine importing country in the world in 2017, accounting for $2.2 billion worth of new and old world wines.
