Food for the Heart: Chickpeas and Okra

I WAS BROUGHT UP in a family where Mum cooked amazingly delicious food from scratch every day, never cutting corners or taking shortcuts. The fantastic meals she prepared for us were all fresh and healthy, and they tasted divine. I believe it’s because I was raised on such a deliciously good diet that I’ve never in my life felt the need to count calories.

Of course, in those days in India we didn’t have canned food, bottled cooking sauces, spice packs, ready-made meals, and so on.
