LOSE IT! The Low Carb & Paleo Way

‘EAT TO THRIVE, NOT JUST SURVIVE’

Inè Reynierse has seen the healing power of nutrition first-hand. After switching to a lower-carb, no-sugar and wholefoods lifestyle, she observed significant changes in her family: her husband lost 40kg and had more energy; her son – who’s on the autism spectrum – made more emotional connections and had fewer meltdowns; and her daughter – who’s on the attention-deficit disorder (ADD) spectrum – displayed a newfound sense of focus. Inè herself was also able to conceive, sustain and carry twin girls at the age of 39, having previously miscarried twice.

Despite the positive changes she’d observed in her family and herself, Inè still worried about her genetic predispositions.

‘My mom had bipolar disorder, and committed suicide,’ she says. ‘And my paternal grandmother was one of 10 siblings who all died of heart disease very early in their lives. I look a lot like her and I’m built like her too. I thought, “Let me look into my genetic composition and: to understand my own blueprint, my food journey and how I’m eating for the next generation.’
