Extending a terraced house

Terraced houses are ubiquitous in the UK. Many are period homes, and might still have the original features beloved by so many. On the downside, period or not, the interiors can feel dated, with small, closed-off rooms, cramped kitchens and a garden view that’s nothing to speak of.

The good news is that a terraced house is a great candidate for an extension, despite its surrounded position. While side additions generally aren’t on the menu, constructing extra living space in the rear garden definitely can be doable. Size isn’t everything, either: even a small extension can be the key to remodelling a terraced home in a way that makes it fit for modern lifestyles, as well as spacious and light-filled.
