“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” Charles Dickens penned those immortal words 160 years ago to open A Tale of Two Cities, his well-lauded 1859 historical novel set before and during the French Revolution. That telling assessment could also be applied to another revolution that took place 140 years later, a revolution that irreversibly changed the fortunes of the entire music business forever and a day.
