In 2013, AKAJaneDoe (not her real name) received a phone call that changed her life forever. It was a call from a credit card company asking her to call them back. At first, she thought the call itself was fraudulent, so she decided to cross-check the number. She discovered it was to a major credit card company’s fraud department. They said someone tried to obtain a credit card using her name, address and Social Security number.
