‘I DON’T suppose you have a table free tonight?” the smartly dressed man enquired.
“Let me see,” Jo murmured, as she studied the computer screen. The chap was a walk-in. Ritzy’s recommended booking on its website, so walk- ins were rare.
Jo was temporarily taking care of Ritzy’s, her brother’s new restaurant, while he was away. Luckily, she had Mel, Dan’s trustworthy assistant in charge of the kitchen, to help out if needed.
Ritzy’s had quite a few bookings for that evening, but all Jo needed to do was station herself by the cash desk, meet-and-greet, lead customers to their tables, take payments and issue receipts.
“You’re in luck, sir. We have a free slot in around 15 minutes,” she said.
