When Don Christie first launched Catalyst in 1997, the technology landscape in New Zealand, and indeed the rest of the world, was vastly different to today.
Don had a background in writing software for industrial processes – one standout project involved writing software to monitor the as-yet unfilled Lake Dunstan for the hydro-electric scheme in Cromwell.
But he had always wanted to carry on the family tradition of business ownership, and hankered for a business that could work well in this country, as well as create technology that could be exported.
