2020 YEAR OF the Rat

It’s the Year of the Metal Rat – a time for new beginnings, renewals and good luck!

Although sometimes seen in a less than favourable light in western culture, in Chinese culture rats have a more positive reputation and symbolise wealth, excess and fertility.

The rat is also first of the 12 Chinese zodiac signs.

According to myth, the Jade Emperor was holding a party and declared the order of the zodiac would be determined by the order of the animals’ arrival.

The rat tricked the ox into giving him a lift and when they arrived, jumped off the ox’s back and ran inside, coming first!

The Year of the Rat is seen as auspicious for all the zodiac signs.

It’s a time for setting goals and laying foundations for the future as the rat brings drive, ambition, energy and determination.

This energy ties in with 2020 being a year 4 in numerology – associated with security and planning for the future.

It’s a good year to start a business or invest some money – but carefully! Rats do not rush into things. They use their instincts to guide them and their intelligence to pay attention to detail.

Rats also possess a gritty determination.
