We’re more dependent on our phones than ever – in fact, a recent study found the average person checks their phone a whopping 85 times a day. It’s no wonder ‘nomophobia’ – a blend of ‘no mobile phone phobia’ that’s defined as fear or worry at the idea of being without your mobile phone or unable to People’s Word of 2018. Research is beginning to understand the damaging effect excessive smartphone use can have on health and relationships, but thankfully, there’s no evidence to suggest we need to give up our phones completely. What matters is using them less and using them wisely.
