Jim Berg’s installation of large-scale photographic portraits of scar trees from Wotjobaluk Country are paired with a soundscape created in collaboration with Martin Friedel who samples elements of Berg’s poetry and the composer’s recordings of the trees. Berg, a Gunditjmara Elder, shares ‘Take too this gift, close your eyes and hug a Tree. The heartbeat you hear is your heartbeat and the heartbeat of the Tree…’
