Mickey and Me
Following my 1962 baseball season in my hometown of Cushing, Okla., my dad arranged for me and the family to go see my hero Mickey Mantle and the Yankees in Kansas City.
Dad purchased tickets for seats a few feet away from the locker room door where the Yankees would come out to go down a ramp to the field. He wanted me to see “The Mick” up close and personal.
