SERVANTS OF ALL

People in custody waiting to be sentenced have been held there for up to two years before facing a judge. That is all about to change.

From 2020, the Attorney General will appoint a full-time judge to preside over District Courts in Bathurst, Orange and Parkes.

This will reduce the time people in those areas – whether or not they are pleading guilty – will wait to hear the judge’s decision.
