A sideways glance at Vertical Video

Let me say at the start that nothing drives me crazy like seeing vertical format ‘phone video’ presented on a TV screen. It seems like every second item on the news features eyewitness video shot on someone’s phone held the wrong way up. The effect is just like watching through a gap in a paling fence — a narrow slit of a picture that’s mainly sky and ground with hardly any view of what is really going on.
