IN THE LAST DECADE, MILLIONS HAVE RETURNED TO THE CONTINENT, PUSHED BY ECONOMIC CRISES IN THE WEST, OR PULLED BY THE URGE TO REVISIT THE FRAGRANT VISTAS OF HOME.
His face looks blank. Then confused. “A social media business?” He repeats politely, the air thick with unspoken questions: When Tanzania is on power rationing? When only a fraction of our population can access the internet? When the majority does not have sufficient food?
Instead, he smiles inscrutably and says: “Well, your parents will be happy to see you.”
