How I find my HEADSPACE

When did you last do something just because you wanted to? Not because you were helping anyone else, pleasing anyone else or working for someone else – just making yourself happy?

If you can barely remember when, you’re not alone. We Brits work the longest hours in Europe, and research from adult educational college City Lit found that a third of us spend less than 42 minutes a day doing something we enjoy.

Finding time to fit in a new hobby or activity may seem unrealistic. But prioritising your own headspace and a mental ‘escape’ – whether through arts and crafts, exercise, singing, baking, playing an instrument or gardening – is something we should all aim to do, not least because activities like these are known to reduce symptoms of anxiety, stress and depression.
