A lot are inaccurate or embellished facts being passed on from owner to owner with a little tweaking thrown in as the vehicle changes hands. Many placards are certainly padded to sensationalize, perhaps, as the owner may very well know that a large majority of spectators attending are not aware of the real history of most of the vehicles on display anyway.
