All my previous experiences had been with single-rudder yachts on which the prop wash, or forward thrust from the propeller, can be redirected to one side or the other by turning the rudder. On a twin-rudder boat the forward thrust from the propeller goes straight between the rudders without causing them the least inconvenience.
Why have twin rudders?
The real benefit of twin rudders becomes apparent as a sailing boat heels over. On a single-rudder boat the upper sections of the rudder will come out of the water and become ineffective. The water flowing over a single heeled rudder will also be diverted either
