When we look into the magic book that measures the world – you can call it what you wish, but I will call it my ephemeris – we discern some impending retrogrades. Further, the retrogrades in question have to do with planets sometimes called “social,” the ones we refer to as Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn. Some of you might say to me, “Now look here, Lyons, why do you call Saturn a ‘social’ planet? Isn’t he one of the most unsocial, not to mention unsociable planets available? Others of you might say, and quite reasonably, “Look here, Lyons, doesn’t every planet have a social dimension? And if every planet has such a dimension, why single out Jupiter and Saturn, not to mention Venus, as social planets?”

Saturn and Weddings

Let’s start with Saturn and his con–nection with weddings. Saturn in fact has quite a lot to do with weddings. In fact, he may have more to do with weddings than any planet except Venus, and perhaps he should even usurp Venus’ title as the ruler of that social custom.
