Very few are lucky enough to get a second chance at life. While 14-year-old Dumisani (Siyabonga Mtshali) can’t take back the pain he’s caused his loved ones, he’s out to right his wrongs after he’s released from juvenile detention this fortnight. “Dumi is a mix of emotion. He’s nervous but also excited to start afresh,” says Siyabonga.

The world as Dumi knew it changed after the 68s set his home on fire for trying to quit gang life in April 2019.(Bongi Dlamini) to death in their family shack. “He still blames himself. If Dumi could, he would’ve traded place with her. He couldn’t live with himself, so he handed himself to the police for both murders,” explains Siyabonga, whose character is looking forward to reuniting with his family. But not everyone will welcome Dumi with open arms – and he will feel lonelier than he was when he was behind bars without his family.
