that's life!

Welcome!

Several years ago, when we were putting together a craft special, one of our crafty contributors came up with a simple soft toy made with a striped sock’s sister mags and was finishing up for the day, while Oscar walked around saying hello and generally spreading happiness. As he was chatting to Eunice and Beth, I remembered my sock toy and just knew I’d found its new home. Rummaging around under my desk, I pulled it out and handed it to Oscar. I think you should have this, I told him. His eyes widened, he said, ‘Thanks!’, then ran straight to his mum. ‘Look what the lady gave me!’ he told her. A week later, Susie told me that ‘Happy’, which was the stuffed sock’s new name, had quickly become Oscar’s favourite toy, rarely leaving his side. Happy has travelled to Queensland on holiday, been camping in the backyard, and was the star of a show-and-tell at Oscar’s pre-school, where his dramatic, but short, life story was revealed. ‘Happy used to live under the desk of a lady at Mummy’s work, but now he lives with me.’ Lucky Happy! I hope this week’s issue gives all of you some happiness too!
