DEATH METAL WOULD never have evolved into its present form without the astounding late-80s and early-90s work of Morbid Angel, the Florida-based foursome who are credited with being one of the first bands to define the movement’s aggression and technicality. The band’s frontman, singer and bassist, David Vincent, brought a form of lyrical poetry to ferocious songs, which elevated Morbid above their contemporaries, recording five studio albums with the quartet and touring the planet. Now a solo artist and frontman of Vltimas and I Am Morbid, the latter of which is also the title of his new autobiography, Vincent looks back at the hard-earned wisdom he’s gained over the decades.
