Position: senior (moment) writer, comma abuser.
Likes shows about: fashion and design reality, characters who’re so absurd that they mirror what reality feels like to me.
Not a fan of: true-crime series about sexual torture and abuse. Watching them darkens my world for days without any educational payoff.
I am watching: literally every episode from the BA (Bon Appétit) Test Kitchen on YouTube (they run between 15 and 30 minutes on average).
My take on this show: is this actually even a show? Who cares! The pleasure of watching this group of chefs, whose on-screen personalities I genuinely like, patiently teach me recipes that I will honestly probably never use, is like taking a bubble bath. I wouldn’t say that I’d die for pastry chef Claire Saffitz, but some days it’s pretty close. Watching her frankness, inventiveness and sheer, marvelous competence is addictive. And the editing is hilarious.
