his month, we start with an email from Jim Reagan, WØCHL. Jim wrote to tell me about a project using an Arduino and the Silicon Labs Si4735 chip (). There are a number of projects on the web using this chip; the one from Jim ( and , ) relies on the work of Ricardo Lima Caratti, PU2CLR <>. There is a Facebook group, “Si47XX> also has an article on a similar project “Multi-Band Receiver On A Chip Controlled By Arduino” by Tom Nardi <>. Using an Arduino and an OLED display, it is an inexpensive way to have a multi-function radio. The biggest expense is the Si4735 chip (approximately $8 to $18 through a variety of vendors).
