Next time you are on the boat wondering how to fill in a few minutes, grab a bottle of 3-in-1 oil or other light lubricant and apply a drop to every hinge aboard.

Down below, the domestic-type brass hinges used on many lockers are prone to seizing and then breaking. Even the chrome bronze marine hinges on external hatches and locker lids benefit from regular maintenance.
