At around 7pm on 26 February 2012, high-school student Trayvon Martin, 17, was walking back to his father’s fiancée’s house in a gated community in Sanford, Florida. Trayvon was said to be a shy kid who enjoyed music, going to the cinema with friends, and dreamed of working with planes. That was snatched away when he was spotted by George Zimmerman, 28, a neighbourhood watch coordinator.
