Pain in the SHADOWS

HIROSHIMA: 75 YEARS LATER Stream* or watch from Wednesday August 5 at 7.30pm on HISTORY [608]

On August 6, 1945, the US dropped an atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima, killing 80,000 in the attack and resultant firestorm, with the death toll rising to 140,000 by year’s end.

This month, the horror is remembered in a special nine-day 75th Anniversary of The Bomb event airing on HISTORY from August 1,, which examines the atomic bombing from inception to detonation and beyond. Through rare newsreel coverage, never-before-seen footage only recently declassified by the US military and interviews with survivors, scientists and soldiers, it documents how the first nuclear bomb ever used in warfare changed the world forever.
