Welcome to part two of our project. To recap – we’ve the basis of a Velocette Viper, the idea being to use as many parts as possible, without spending a fortune, simply.

Of course, people’s choices are regulated by a number of factors and with this project, the decision has been made to go down the route of doing the best we can; as dad (who is assisting – well, doing – most of this put it: “Like the restorations we used to do in the 1960s”). That ethos is amusingly being applied to a 1960s machine, which is somewhat ironic, but the sentiment is the same.

After the assessment of what was what – involving a big pile of bits on the sun-bleached grass, in the days when it was sunny – it was Towers) and fetched it on June 5, then it rained all weekend, we piled it all up in the garden on June 8, then started the strip down on June 10.
