The aria of wild partridges

DID we miss the country-house opera season? As a philistine of goliathan degree I found I could wait another year for the annual warbling. Of course, there’s something splendid about the black-tie, lobster and champagne picnic among the herbaceous and I can swing along to the Magic Flute with the best of ’em. But has anyone ever had a truly jolly evening at The Turn of the Screw? I’d swap my ticket for 15 minutes of Game Fair ferret racing any day.
