“We have our mothers’ recipes and we strongly believe they are the best!”
When Irina Georgescu moved to Britain in 2010, she found that, ‘cooking Romanian dishes was a way of staying connected with my family’. In her Welsh kitchen, she reminisces about holidays in Transylvania and cooking with her mother in 1980s Bucharest, a country then ruled by the notorious Nicolae Ceaușescu.
Irina began blogging her recipes under the banner Life in Small Bites, now , which inspired her debut cookery book (£22, Frances Lincoln). As she says: ‘Romanian cookery is quite personal. We have our mothers’ and our grandmothers’
