Archives Card goes live after year’s delay

A new card offering family historians free access to some of the archives in England and Wales is now available.

The Archives Card, established by the Archives), and its logo is featured on the card. It was initially due to launch in April 2019, but the launch was repeatedly delayed. To get the card, family historians will need to register on the website then visit one of the participating archives within three months with two forms of identity. A spokesperson for the Archives and Records Association said that family historians would need to re-register if they are unable to visit an archive for more than three months because of the lockdown implemented as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
