Back in 1940, shortly after the outbreak of the Second World War, Lancashire Record Office was established. Four years earlier the county council had been petitioned by the local branch of the Historical Association, asking that proper provision should be made for the county’s records.
In the pre-lockdown era, Lancashire Archives, as it’s recently been rechristened, celebrated its 80th birthday with an open day on Sunday.
