Regarding Anthony Morgan’s letter ‘We need to keep recent wills private’ in the February issue, most wills are in effect public documents so far as I am aware. It should be noted that the GOV.UK ‘Find a will’ website (probatesearch.service.gov. uk/#wills) covers England and Wales only. As the site points out, “There’s a different process in Scotland and Northern Ireland.” The National Records of Scotland site (nrscotland.gov. uk) only covers accessibility to wills and testaments in Scotland up to 1999.
