    Opening up OMEO

    If we asked you to think about a rural town that’s transformed from a remnant of a bygone mining era into a global mountain biking destination, Blue Derby would probably be first to mind. Whilst that may be the case now, in a few years time the name Omeo (which fittingly translates to ‘mountains’ in the indigenous language) could be front of mind when it comes to revitalised towns attracting international attention. Bright, Falls Creek and Mount Beauty are places that many riders have visited on a Victorian High Country road trip. Between these three amazing destinations there’s around 140km of trails on offer. Now Omeo, with its population of around 400 is coming onto the scene with 121km of predominantly singletrack being built in the coming years.
