Limpopo’s food fight

A company owned by the son of a deputy minister is among the new companies awarded contracts by the Limpopo health department to supply food to hospitals. Now other local suppliers are taking legal action, alleging that the supply chain guidelines were flouted, resulting in politically connected individuals benefiting at their expense.

Themba Botshelo Magadzi, a co-director of Macheke Magadzi Services, landed his first contract with the department. He is the son of Deputy Transport Minister Dikeledi Magadzi. She is also the former MEC for health in Limpopo.
