‘Shorty’ juggles motherhood and football coaching

Missing your baby’s first steps, their first words, even the first time they eat without assistance – that’s the high price paid by women juggling parenthood and professional sports careers.

One such woman is former Banyana Banyna captain-turned-coach Simphiwe Dludlu. Two years ago, the 33-year-old guided the SA Under-17 women’s team, Bantwana, to their first World Cup in Uruguay when her first child was just a few months old.
