THE YOUNG WARRIOR

This week we learn how the young Shaka came to be under the protection of Dingiswayo of the Mthethwa. By this time Shaka had grown into a tall, muscular man with a forceful personality. When he was only 19, he killed a charging leopard single-handedly. Despite his energy and athletic physique, the young Shaka spent much time alone, brooding over revenge for the torment he and his mother had endured, but also dreaming of rewarding those who had been kind to them.

Read on to find out how Shaka rose in the ranks of Dingiswayo’s army.
