ARCHAEOLOGISTS have found ancient Egyptian rings made of braided reeds, carved bonerunning straight from the heart to the fourth finger on the left hand—now known as the ring finger, where eternity rings often sit. Their rings featured carvings, beads and gems around the band, but more modern eternity rings traditionally sparkle with diamonds—the strongest stone on earth, a nod to the ring’s sentiment of lifelong love and commitment.
