CORRUPTION: ANC PLOTS DEFENCE

The Auditor-General’s damning report on Covid-19 funds abuse has caused trepidation within the ANC, particularly its parliamentary caucus, which is now planning a series of measures to obviate “the negative narrative” that will most likely prevail when committee meetings resume next month.

The party held a virtual caucus meeting on Thursday, chaired by chief whip Pemmy Majodina, which sought to ensure that all MPs of the governing party were prepared to face opposition party members.

“The report affects us negatively as the ANC. We’re approaching by-elections and the negative narrative that’s out there will have a negative impact on the ANC,” Majodina told the meeting.
