PEOPLE POWER
One small bonus for us older readers during the lockdown was that we had the time to re-read, in greater detail, the back numbers of our magazines. So it was when I had a long look at Classic & Vintage Commercials for January 2019 and got to Nick Baldwin’s People Power and the photo of the Ivens Atkinson and trailer from Rugby.
I have no idea about the occasion, but I believe that the gent wearing the trilby is Mr Tom White accompanied by his son Christopher and that he was the owner of Ivens. I worked with Chris White for several years from 1960 at a Coventry accountancy practice and he told me that he used to go out as trailer mate on the Atkinson during school holidays.
At that time I believe that Mr White senior had several business interests in timber and building activities. I have not seen Chris for a long time but this picture is now an incentive for me to track him down.
