If you ask anyone in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg, about Mary Ndlovu (Nthati Moshesh, Melanie in 2005 drama Gaz’lam), they’ll tell you that she’s a beacon of hope in the community. She’s practically a modern-day Mother Teresa (the famous compassionate nun from Calcutta, India). Mary feeds the needy, speaks out for the ill-treated and she takes in orphans at her children’s home House Of Grace. The cherry on top: she does it all while looking fabulous, with her red lipstick and black kitten heels. “Little do the people know that it is actually a disguise,” says Nthati.
