CAROLINE MARTINEZ, 48, is a private investigator. She lives in Surrey with her husband Richard and two budgies.
I met Richard on a dating site 11 years ago. He was a breath of fresh air, full of fun, excitement and energy. When he told me he ran his own detective agency, Expedite, I was fascinated. He’d been a flying officer in the RAF Reserves for eight years and wanted to do something just as exciting when he left. I’d been a bank clerk, but in 2014 I was made redundant and joined Richard as an investigator.

The work is so interesting as different cases require different skills. There’s integrity testing, also known as a honeytrap. I’ll meet the subject and play a role that puts their integrity to the test. It’s all conducted verbally, not physically, and it’s all recorded.
