TWO CHARITIES BENEFIT
ack in August two charities benefitted from the proceeds of the second in a series of tractor runs. The two charities were the Rhayader Leg Club, a weekly drop-in event treating anyone with a leg problem and MacMillan Cancer Support. Entitled, Anneâs Tractor Run as the club secretary, Anne Bates, had designed the route, it followed Welsh Government guidelines. This meant it was limited to 30 people, including passengers and marshals. Starting from the old Nantmel School car park, the run passed by the hilly Llandrindod Wells and took in the views of Cefnllys Castle. After the dinner stop the convoy headed up the valley through the village named after Cwm-Hir Abbey, passing the ruins of a Cistercian abbey built there in 1143. Climbing up the forestry sided hills they also took in the view of the Caban Coch Dam in the Elan Valley nestling in the distance before making their way home. The organisers would like to thank all participants and donations received.
